Educational Services

There are many reasons why a student may have difficulty in school, including challenges related to a fit between one’s skills and the curriculum (either because it is too difficult or too easy), emotional distress, and/or social challenges. What tends to be true across students is that regardless of the cause, spending seven hours a day in an environment where things are not working smoothly is often hard to do!

For parents, it can be difficult to know what to share with the school, what to expect of a school, and what the legal rights are of their child. It can also be difficult to know what to ask for on behalf of their child and/or what is needed to make the situation better.

Many parents are unfamiliar with the terms MFE, ETR, IEP and/or 504 Plan, or the process for qualifying and/or obtaining services for their child.

School collaboration and assistance may be needed when a student:

  • has a learning disability
  • has a higher or lower IQ than the majority of students
  • has a varied cognitive profile
  • has an attentional disorder
  • has an autism spectrum disorder
  • has a severe mood and/or anxiety disorder
  • has a chronic health condition

Our team of psychologists and educational specialists are available to assist with questions/concerns related to academic challenges.
